Keeping Score: The Rockland Boulders’ 1st Official Game

The 2011 Can-Am League season opened this morning as the Newark Bears took on the Rockland Boulders.

The game was notable because it was the first for Newark in the Can-Am League (the team had played in the Atlantic League for the first 12 years of their existence.) More significantly, this was the first game in franchise history for the Rockland Boulders.

Fittingly, the Boulders won 11-5 in extra innings.

  1. Cool seeing all of those firsts for the Rockland Boulders on your score card. I thought their uniforms were pretty cool.

Also, saw someone commented on Daryle Ward rejoining the Bears. I like the move as they could use all of the offense they can get, I just wonder who gets cut as a result.

    • Thanks!

The Bears are currently at 21 players on the website roster, with Paddy Matera listed on the DL. That would open up a spot for Ward whenever the Bears are ready to announce his signing and activate him.

I like the Boulders’ uniforms. If I get a chance to get up there, I’d like to get a cap for my collection.

  2. Oh by the way I forgot to ask, but did Tiki Barber show up as announced prior to the game?

    • I don’t think so. They had a representative of Tiki Barber say a few words during the pre-game ceremony.

What do you think?
