It didn’t take Larkin long to sign an exclusive deal with Steiner.

A little while ago, I got an email from Steiner Sports congratulating Barry Larkin on his election to the Hall of Fame and announcing that he was a “New Steiner Sports Exclusive Athlete.”

You can place your orders now for a baseball signed by Larkin and inscribed “HOF 2012″ for just $199.99.

(Now I remember why I gave up the idea of collection Hall of Fame autographs many years ago.)

This seems to happen every year. My advice is don’t buy Larkin anything right now- you’ll pay top dollar. Steiner always has huge discounts during the holiday season. I got a ton of emails from them during the holiday season. By this time next year you’ll see Larkin’s autograph come down- I saw last years inductees, Alomar and Blyleven, as part of discount emails.

Barry Larkin is obviously alive and well. There will be plenty of his signatures available.

    • I’ve made it this long without a Barry Larkin autograph in my collection… I think I can wait until the price reaches a reasonable level. I do feel bad for the Reds fans who will be paying that price this year, but then again maybe it will be worth it to them.

  2. The reason why I stay away from sports collectibles is because too many are either overpriced or fake. Hell, if the HOF can get duped, what does that say about we mortals?

  3. I got a huge chunk of the 1990 Reds a number of years back (including Larkin, and Eric Davis, but no Paul O’Neill). It was just over $100. Now they’re going 200 – wow.

  4. I got that email too – Larkin’s deal with Steiner had to be in place for a few weeks now.

And I agree 100% with Freddy – Steiner has emails every other day with sale pricing, eventually Larkin will land in that bucket, and still may be too higher priced then…

What do you think?
