Cardboard momentos of “The Kid”

I still can’t believe that my childhood baseball hero is gone.

Back in 1988, Baseball Card Magazine printed a complete (at the time) checklist of Gary Carter‘s baseball cards… and I decided to try to collect them all. His rookie cards – particularly the Topps mini one – were pricey and I didn’t get them until Carter’s playing career was nearly over. But at the time he retired, I had just about every Carter baseball card made.

Here are a few that came out later, that still haven’t managed to make it into the binder.

2001 Upper Deck Legends of New York

2001 Sunoco Dream Team

2002 Topps Super Teams

2004 Topps Tribute

2005 Topps Fan Favorites

2005 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic

2008 Donruss Threads

2011 Topps Kimball Champions

“The Kid” was one of my (younger) brother’s all-time favorites, too…i had to call him after I’d heard and say “Sorry…” The baseball community has lost one of the great advocates for the game!!!

What do you think?
