While February offered relatively few events for autograph collectors, things are picking up this month. (As always, please confirm the details of the event with the promoter – or venue, in the case of the book signings, ahead of time if you plan to attend any of these events.)
March
Keith Hernandez is scheduled to appear at the Steiner Sports Store in Roosevelt Field Mall, Garden City N.Y. on Tuesday, March 6th. Autographs are $35, plus $15 for inscriptions. There is also a special combo price that includes one autograph from Hernandez and one from Hall of Famer Lou Brock for $75.
Schwartz Sports Memorabilia is the official mail order provider for the Chicago Sun Times Sports Collectibles Convention, March 16th-18th. Items are due by March 12th. Dwight Gooden ($49), Frank Howard ($25) and Darryl Strawberry ($49) are among the scheduled guests.
The Bob Feller Hall of Fame and Museum is handling mail order for Jeff Reardon‘s appearance in connection with the Chicago Sun Times Show March 16th-18th. Autographs are $25, plus $10 return shipping. I’m not sure about the order deadline, but it should be coming up very soon.
March 22nd is the deadline for Chris Potter Sports’ latest batch of private signings. Former Mets included in his slate include Dr. Mike Marshall ($185-$400), Choo Choo Coleman ($15-$30), Dean Chance ($25-$40), Jim Fregosi ($15-$25), Derek Bell ($12-$25), John Candelaria ($12-$25), Herm Winningham ($12-$25), and Bill Short ($12-$25)
JP’s Sports & Rock Solid Promotions will have Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar at the White Plains Sports Card Show at the Westchester County Center on March 24th. Autographs are $79 or $99, depending on the items to be signed; inscriptions are an additional $20.
The Bob Feller Hall of Fame and Museum is also doing a private signing with Alomar on March 24th, with the same pricing.
April
Jeff Reardon is scheduled to appear at Rich Altman’s Boston Show at the Shriner’s Auditorium in Wilmington, Mass. on April 1st. Autographs are $25, plus $10 for inscriptions. I’m not sure if the promoter is accepting mail orders, so be sure to check if you’re interested. However, you might prefer to wait for a more local appearance later in the month.
R.A. Dickey will be doing three book signings to promote “Wherever I Wind Up“
- April 6th at 6 p.m. at Bookends, East Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood
- April 10th at 11:30 a.m. at Barnes & Noble, East 54th Street. New York, N.Y.
- April 21st at 6 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, Union Turnpike, Fresh Meadows, N.Y.
Bud Harrelson will be doing four book signings to promote “Turning Two“

JP’s Sports & Rock Solid Promotions will have two former Mets pitchers at the Long Island National at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. on April 21st. Jeff Reardon will sign item for free with paid admission. Inscriptions are an extra $5, and additional autographs are $10 each. Original Met Roger Craig will sign items for $25, with free inscriptions.

R. A. Dickey will sign copies of his book, “Wherever I Wind Up: My Search for Truth, Authenticity and the Perfect Knuckleball.” on May 10th from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Yogi Berra Museum in Little Falls.
Sports Collectibles of Houston is planning a private signing with Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan during the weekend of May 18th-20th. Cards (postcard size or smaller) are only $39. Flats (up to 16″x20″) and baseballs are $79. Inscriptions are $20
The Bob Feller Hall of Fame and Museum is holding a public event with Vince Coleman at the Orlandos Banquet Center, 2700 Hoffmeister in St Louis, Missouri on May 26th. Autographs are $30, plus an additional $10 for inscriptions. Return shipping for mailed items is $10.
I’m planning to send in cards for the private signings with Nolan Ryan and Billy Wagner, but the others don’t really help me. (Dr. Mike Marshall is way out of my price range, and I already have everybody else.)
