Claudell Washington’s 1981 Topps baseball card

Claudell Washington played for seven Major League teams during a 17-year career that spanned from 1975-1990, including both the New York Mets and New York Yankees. He’s got a World Series ring from the Oakland Athletics’ 1974 championship, and was an All-Star with the A’s and the Atlanta Braves.

He’s on a lot of autograph collectors’ wantlists because he really hasn’t made many appearances since his retirement and does not sign through the mail.

On Thanksgiving weekend, Washington is scheduled to appear at  JP’s Sports & Rock Solid Promotions sports card show at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, N.Y.  Autographs will be $25 with free inscriptions.

If you are not in the area (or have other plans for the holiday weekend), JP’s Sports offers mail order  and I’ve had good experiences dealing with them in the past.

About Paul

I'm a child of the 1980s who never completely grew up and is still trying to figure things out. I root for the New York Mets, even though that doesn't always reflect well on my judgement, and I've been writing about them and other baseball-related subjects at since 2007. I write about other things at Contact me at
