Last week, The Trentonian’s Josh Norris made his first guess at who will be on the Trenton Thunder’s Opening Day roster.

Tyler Austin

Norris is projecting that two of the New York Yankees’ top prospects, outfielders Tyler Austin and Slade Heathcott, will open the season in Trenton.

Norris cautions that plenty could still change between now and April, and that several things could send Austin back to the Tampa Yankees:

For one, Abe Almonte — whom the Yankees re-signed this offseason — starting at Trenton would severely block his path…. Same goes for Rob Segedin, who moved off third this season and should begin back at Trenton to start the year. In truth, he’s probably better suited as the designated hitter. Even so, Segedin getting the nod in left would send Austin back to Tampa.
