Game Report: Binghamton Mets @ Trenton
I met up with my friend Bart in Trenton today to watch the Binghamton Mets play the Trenton Thunder. The weather was a bit windy, but it was a huge improvement over the last time I went to Trenton. The game had excitement, drama and a happy ending… if you were a Trenton Thunder fan.
Binghamton took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning, but they couldn’t capitalize on a bases-loaded, one out opportunity to put together a big inning. They added another run in the third, but Trenton tied things up in the fourth. Shawn Bowman crushed a solo home run to center field in the sixth to put Binghamton back on top.
In the eighth inning Binghamton loaded the bases with no one out, but the Mets were unable to score an insurance run. That came back to bite them in the bottom of the inning, when Jorge Vazquez hit a homer to tie it up again. The Mets got a runner to second in the top of the ninth with two out, but couldn’t score. They brought on closer Roydrick Merritt to pitch the bottom of the ninth, and he gave up a homer to the first batter he faced, Jose Gil.
At least the big league team won today, making it seven in a row. 🙂

All of the Binghamton Mets were very friendly and willing to sign autographs before the game.
