Former Mets catcher to manage Wilmington Blue Rocks

signed Vance Wilson 2003 Topps Total baseball card from my collection

Former Mets catcher Vance Wilson has been named to manage the Wilmington Blue Rocks, a Single-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. The team will be holding a press conference to introduce him on Thursday at noon. According to the team’s media advisory, the event will be open to the public – so if you’re in Delaware the area of Frawley Stadium, stop by and check it out.

(Thanks to Paul Ember, writer of Phungo, for the tip.)

Closer to home, Greg Prince of Faith and Fear in Flushing has a rundown of some upcoming New York City events with Mets’ golden anniversary associations.

I suppose I should go check to see if I need to shovel snow again… let’s bring on baseball season. 🙂
