Long Island Ducks claim 2012 Atlantic League title

Lancaster Barnstormers 2012 Atlantic League Championship Series program from my collection

The Long Island Ducks won their second Atlantic League championship on Sunday, beating the Lancaster Barnstormers 3 games to 2.

Infielder Dan Lyons was named the Atlantic League Championship series MVP. Former Mets outfielder Timoniel Perez played for the Ducks in the championship series. The team is managed by former Mets infielder Kevin Baez, and Mets Hall of Famer Buddy Harrelson is a part owner and part-time coach.

The Barnstormers also had a former Mets player on their roster: reliever Tim Hamulack. They are managed by Butch Hobson.

My friend Greg went to the second game of the series in Lancaster, which saw Long Island’s Matt Way start against major league veteran John Halama for the Barnstormers. ┬áLancaster took a 4-3 lead to the ninth inning of that game, but Hamulack blew the save in spectacular fashion and the Ducks rallied to win 9-4.┬áHe sent me a game program and ticket stub for my collection.
