Mets baseball card of the week: 1964 Topps Larry Bearnarth
Larry Bearnarth was a relief pitcher for the early 1960s New York Mets, and resurfaced briefly with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1971.
He went on to become a successful major league pitching coach with the Montreal Expos and Colorado Rockies, and was a scout for the Detroit Tigers until his death in 1999.
Bearnarth appears on four 1960s Topps cards, all showing him as a Met. His 1963 rookie card is shared with three other players, so this card from the 1964 set is his first solo one. Because it is in the scarce high number series, you can expect to pay as much as $12 for a nice copy.
Do you have any memories of Larry Bearnarth?
