The inaugural Queens Baseball Convention got more interesting on Monday, when Shannon Shark announced that two World Series champion New York Mets are scheduled to attend.

Ron Darling and Ed Kranepool will each participate in a question & answer session and sign autographs at the January 18, 2014 event. The autograph cost is included in the admission price, but due to time limits, not everyone is guaranteed to receive an autograph.

While I’m not currently planning to go to the Queens Baseball Convention, any of my friends are welcome to talk me into going with them.

The next two weeks are probably the swan song for this blog. The domain renewal is coming up, and I don’t really feel the same enthusiasm for baseball that I did when I began.

I could still change my mind, but I’m having a hard time imagining what I might find to say about the 2014 Mets that anyone would want to read and other commitments will keep me from going to more than a handful of minor league games next season.

I do want to thank everyone who stops by to read Random Baseball Stuff, and I appreciate the friends I’ve made because of this blog.

  1. I would go to the QBC if I still lived in the area… Too far for me to drive now.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re looking to pack it in… Sorry, but not surprised. It hasn’t seemed like you’ve enjoyed it for quite a while.

I’ve been through a lot of the stuff you’ve been going through, and I can only say that it will get better. Even the Mets.

Take care of yourself, don’t be a stranger to the Blogosphere.

  2. I’d go but I live about 5000 miles away. Hate to see another BB blog go down, but you could always move over to a free blog service like blogspot, tumblr, or wordpress and not have to worry about domain fees. And then you could take as much time off as you want and most of us would probably still be here. Just saying
