Introducing “Rookie,” the next Trenton Thunder bat dog
The fans have spoken, and “Rookie” is the name of the third Trenton Thunder bat dog, who is expected to take on that role in 2015.
“With all the young players that pass through ARM & HAMMER Park each year, it’s only fitting that we have a ‘Rookie’ here to fetch their bats,” Thunder General Manager Will Smith said in a press release. “The interaction we had with the fans throughout the naming process was outstanding and there’s no doubt that everyone is excited about Rookie becoming part of the Thunder experience.”
Thunder fans submitted 1,164 different potential names earlier this month, and thousands voted for their favorite from the eight finalists in online balloting.

Rookie is expected to begin making appearances at Trenton Thunder home games this season.
