Ex-GMs land jobs

Former Philadelphia Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. will be the Boston Red Sox first base coach and outfield instructor next year, marking one of the few times in recent memory that an ousted executive has returned to the field.

Meanwhile, former Red Sox GM Ben Cherington has taken an academic position with Columbia University.

May both men find better fortune in their new roles.
